Intro & Materials for Frog Basket

Materials you’ll need for this project:

Fabric Panel from Spoonflower.com. You should order a fat quarter of whatever fabric you choose. I recommend Petal Signature Cotton, Cotton Lawn or Organic Cotton Sateen. (Lawn or Sateen are wider fabrics and you will get two complete panels on a fat quarter)

Threads.
Choose either #8 perle cotton or 6-stranded embroidery thread.
You will need at minimum 2 different greens, pink, white and black.
Here is handout with the thread colors I used in my class sample.

Fusible Fleece.
You can get fusible fleece from Heat & Bond or Pellon. You just need a piece about 10×14 inches or small scraps for each hexagon. You can fuse that to the back of your fabric before class, following the package directions.

Needle.
I recommend a size 24 or 26 chenille needle for doing the embroidery. I like a small milliners needle for the assembly at the end. (I forgot to mention these in the video)

4mm sequins.
I often get sequins from these Etsy shops: Fine Sequins or Benzie

Scissors.
Embroidery hoop (optional).

Blossie Basket Pattern from Craftapalooza.com
You’ll need to purchase the pattern separately directly from Craftapalooza. This class does not include the pattern pieces or finishing instructions for the project.

Backing fabric.
You need a piece of fabric 42×6 inches, or approximately 1/4 yard.
The fabric for my sample I found at my local quilt shop: Moda Playgrounds Prism Blender in Grass.
These are a couple of places that had it in stock online as of Feb 2026: Here or Here
These are some other fabrics I think would work great: Mosaic or Gingko or Caterpillar
